June’s favorites: mindfulness, acceptance & lifestyle
I have found some great resources this month and I am over-the-moon excited to share them with y’all. June has been intense for me. At my workplace many international colleagues travelled here to Finland and I drowned in trainings, meetings, and afterwork appointments for a week. It was nice to meet some colleagues I hardly see, but also stressful and intense. Thankfully, I was right on track with my self-care resolutions and I kept up with everything. And now, I’m glad to be able to share with you what helped me get through.
Live your days mindfully
Mindfulness has become a buzz word in the past few years, but to me it’s more than a trend. Inspired by my husband’s commitment to regular meditation, I have focused more on it myself and witnessed exceptional and lasting results. I love this short video and share the belief that mindfulness will be the next healthcare revolution. I am still baffled how much prejudice exists around mental health or simply taking care of your emotional wellbeing. Mindfulness will change that.
The Headspace app
It’s funny how I got to discover this great tool. Weeks ago, I simply spotted a tweet of someone asking an opinion of it and decided to give it a try. Since then, I have meditated every day. I love the libraries of this app. They focus on different topics to tackle – stress, low self-esteem, even pregnancy – and teach simple meditating exercises. The app offers also several videos to further explain what mindfulness is. You can try several days and much content for free before deciding to subscribe the monthly fee. Many people are skeptical about paying recurrent fees for apps, but then I say, wouldn’t you pay a small amount monthly for something that makes you happy? I certainly would and do.
The power of vulnerability
Brené Brown is like a goddess to me. She seems to have cracked the deepest secrets of humankind and life. This TedTalk says so much in so little time. Accepting my vulnerability has been a turning point for me and her words made me question once again how I parent my children. The temptation of pushing them to be their best self is always there, while instead our job as parents is simply to accept and love them. Easier said than done, I say. This video is simply enlightening.
New podcast: Grazia Life Advice
I am loving this new podcast by Grazia. Every week a successful woman is interviewed and shares the best (and worst) life or professional advice she has received. I love listening to empowering podcasts. This is light and pleasant to listen to, yet powerful. I like that women from various professional backgrounds are brought in to talk and share their point of view. Sincerely recommended.
3 best features
This year for the first time in my life I heard myself saying “I deserve this” and believed it. It has been a turning point for me. This is why I was so excited to find about this initiative to empower women. To take part, post on your instagram feed a selfie and your three best qualities, and use the tag @3bestfeatures and the hashtag #3bestfeatures to be hosted on the account’s feed. Take a moment to reflect on what aspects of yourself you are most proud of. Doesn’t matter if people around you don’t agree or appreciate them. What makes you you?
It’s all, folks. I hope you found inspiration in my June’s favs. Leave me a comment down below if you liked any of these and enjoy the rest of your summer!
