Are you ready for Lasten Festarit 2018?
This year on August 4th one of our favourite local events will take place in Hesperian Puisto, Helsinki. Last year I had the privilege of interviewing the main coordinator Doris Tuohimaa and share with my readers what motivation drives the organisers year after year. Lasten Festarit (“The Children’s Festival”) is a fantastic event for families of small children and it’s FREE. Every year, it features shows, soft-play, games, and much more.
This year, the main theme will be OUR ANIMAL FRIENDS and the organisers have prepared juicy surprises for the young participants.
For starters, an animal area will be prepared near the the National Opera building (see the map) and it will host sheeps, bunnies, chickens, dogs, and ponies. Yes, the kids will be able to ride ponies brought in by The Helsinki Horse Show. The dogs will entertain the young guests at 2.45pm with a Flyball show.
As icing on the cake, parrots will be displayed for kids to observe up close.
In the afternoon (1.30pm) the band Kengurumeininki will rock the stage. All sponsors and stands embraced the animal theme, so there’s plenty more to expect! Some examples? A giant bubble show, a magician on stage, and a circus performance.
Mark you calendar on Saturday August 4th, from 10am to 4 pm, and join the fun!
I have put together a short video of our own visit last year, for you to peek into what the festival offers. You can browse this year’s programme here and make sure to like Lasten Festarit page on Facebook to never miss a beat!
